AI Visibility Platform or GEO Implementation Service? How to Choose

An AI visibility platform shows where your brand stands in AI answers; a GEO agency changes your site to move it. When you need which, decided by team capacity — plus 5 questions to ask a GEO agency.

Short answer: An AI visibility platform measures: it reports how often your brand is mentioned in answers from engines like ChatGPT and Gemini, and which sources those answers cite. A GEO implementation service turns that measurement into changes on your site: content, schema, entity signals and internal linking. If you have a team that can act on the findings, a platform is enough. If you don't, you need a GEO agency that does the implementation.

We hear this question most often from teams that have already tried a visibility platform. The dashboard is clear and the charts are tidy. But after a few scans the numbers have not moved. The cause is usually not the platform itself. The platform shows the problem; the work that fixes it happens somewhere else.

In this post we put the two models side by side: what each one does, what it doesn't, and when to choose which. At the end we list the questions to ask a GEO agency.

What does an AI visibility platform do?

An AI visibility platform asks AI engines a fixed set of questions at regular intervals and records the answers. A report usually contains:

  • Mention rate: the share of questions in which your brand appears.
  • Position and recommendation: where you appear in the answer and whether the engine recommends you.
  • Competitor share: which competitors are mentioned in the same questions, and how often.
  • Cited URLs: which pages the engine bases its answer on.

Many tools work in this category, each with a different focus. We wrote our own comparisons for Profound, Scrunch AI, Otterly and Brand24. For a broader map of the tools, see our AI visibility tools guide.

We use a platform too. Our measurement infrastructure is a third-party platform, and we describe which tool we use for what in our tool set post. So this post is not against platforms. The question is who does what next to the platform.

What a platform does not do

A platform does not touch your site. It gives you a list of findings: "you are not mentioned for this question", "your competitor is cited from this page". You decide on which page, with which sentence and with which schema to act on each finding. And you do the work.

What does a GEO implementation service do?

A GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) implementation service starts with measurement but does not stop there. The loop has three parts: measure, fix on the site, measure again under the same conditions. The implementation work is concrete:

  • If no page answers a question you are missing, it writes one. If a page exists, it adds a direct answer block and sourced data at the top.
  • It aligns Organization, Person and Article schema with the page's real content.
  • It makes your brand name, founder page and directory profiles consistent (entity signals).
  • It builds internal linking so engines can see your topic as a whole.
  • It tracks your visibility on third-party sources such as review sites and industry lists.

The step-by-step detail is in our post on our GEO implementation method.

Platform or implementation service? A decision table

Question AI visibility platform GEO implementation service
What does it produce? Measurement and a list of findings Measurement, site changes and re-measurement
Who touches your site? Your team The agency, with your approval
What does it need from your team? Content, schema and development capacity Approval and access
Pricing model Usually a software subscription A service agreement
When is it enough? When you have a team that implements When you don't, or it isn't enough

When is a platform enough?

  • Your team has people who write content, know schema and can change the site.
  • Someone can prioritize the findings and turn them into a weekly task list.
  • Your main need is to see your own position and your competitors' on a regular basis.

In that case, a platform plus a good internal process is usually enough.

When do you need an implementation service?

  • Reports arrive, but nobody turns them into site changes.
  • Your team is busy with SEO work and cannot set aside time for GEO.
  • You find it hard to tell which finding is real change and which is measurement noise.
  • You want schema, entity and content work done consistently by one team.

Using both

The two models are not exclusive. Some teams keep their own platform subscription and hand implementation to an agency. The one thing to watch: both sides must look at the same question set and the same engine set. Two measurements built on different question sets cannot be compared.

5 questions to ask when choosing a GEO agency

If you are talking to a GEO agency, the answers to these questions tell you a lot:

  1. Does your report state the engine set and the number of responses per engine? A rate without the engines behind it cannot be interpreted.
  2. Do you give a margin of error? Be careful if a small difference inside the margin is presented as success. We explain how we report in our AI visibility report post.
  3. Who makes the changes on the site? If the answer is "we give you a list of findings", the service is no different from a platform.
  4. Do you have a published, verifiable case? The client name, date range and measurement conditions should be stated.
  5. Do you guarantee a timeline or a ranking? AI answers change constantly. An agency that guarantees them is promising something it cannot control.

Where does Botfusions stand?

Botfusions is a GEO agency that works on the implementation side. We measure, we make the changes on your site ourselves, and we measure again under the same conditions. The engine set varies by scan and is stated in every report. Our methodology page explains how we count responses per engine and calculate the margin of error.

In our published case (Turkish Translation Agency), the two-engine mention rate rose from 8.06% to 27.42% in 58 days. The only change above the noise margin was on Gemini: +35.5 points against a widest margin of ±9.7. Details are on our case study page.

The Growth package costs TRY 40,000 per month + VAT; the other packages are priced after a call (pricing).

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between an AI visibility platform and a GEO agency?

A platform measures how often AI engines mention your brand and gives you a list of findings. A GEO agency also makes the changes on your site — content, schema, entity signals, internal linking — and measures again under the same conditions.

Does a GEO agency use a visibility platform?

Usually yes. Botfusions uses a third-party platform for measurement. The difference is not the measurement tool but who turns the findings into site changes.

Can a platform alone increase AI visibility?

No. A platform shows the current state. Visibility changes when the site and third-party sources change. If your team makes those changes, a platform is enough.
